Words Meaning Example
Circle A perfectly round shape with all points equidistant from the center. The moon appears as a bright circle in the night sky.
Square A four-sided polygon with equal-length sides and right angles. A chessboard consists of many small squares.
Triangle A polygon with three sides and three angles. A yield sign has a distinctive triangular shape.

Pentagon A polygon with five sides and five angles. The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense.
Hexagon A polygon with six sides and six angles. The cells in a honeycomb have a hexagonal shape.
Octagon A polygon with eight sides and eight angles. Stop signs are typically shaped like octagons.
Pear A fruit with a distinctive shape that is wider at the bottom and narrower at the top. She enjoyed a juicy pear for a snack.
Arrow A pointed, slender shape used as a weapon or directional symbol. The archer shot an arrow at the target.
