Nets of 3D Shapes
3D Nets is wonderful game for young students to learn about 3D shapes and their nets. Net of a 3D shape is a two-dimensional shape that can make the given 3D shape. In this game, you have to recognize the shape a given net can make, and the nets that can make a given 3D shape. The game has superb animation to show how a 3D shape can be made by its net, and the other way round. This game will help students understand 3D shapes, their nets, and the interchange between them very clearly while having a lot of fun.
How to play 3D Nets
A wonderful game for young students to learn about 3D shapes and their nets.
What are the nets of 3D shapes?
A net of a 3D shape is a 2D image of what the shape would look like cut and laid out flat. Think of it like each 3D shape having a skin or a rind that you then carefully slice and peel in order to flatten it on a table. Some 3D shapes can have more than one possible net.
How do you match nets to 3D shapes?
Visualization. You have to carefully picture the folds in your mind, and then bend or fold the shape in order to move from a 2D- to a 3D-shape. To check your answer, you can draw the net on a piece of paper, and then carefully fold it up to see if your 3D shape matches what you’ve pictured in your head.
