Customary and Metric Unit Conversions
Here is the conversion table from customary to metric units:
| Customary Units | Metric Units |
| 1 in | 2.54 cm |
| 1 ft | .3048 m |
| 1 yd | .9144 m |
| 1 mile | 1.61 km |
For metric units, all you have to do is multiply or divide by 10, 100 or 1000. So, if you want to know how much is 1 foot in centimeters, all you have to do is multiply.
Example:
Convert 3048 meters into centimeters:
3048 m by 100 = 30.48 cm
Conversion : Metric to Customary Units
Here is the conversion table from metric to customary units.
| Metric Units | Customary Units |
| 1 cm | .3937 in |
| 1 m | 3.28 ft |
| 1 m | 1.094 yd |
| 1 km | .6214 mi |
Example:
If you measure a door in metric units and find that it is 2 meters, you can do a little bit of math to find out what the length of the door is in inches, in feet, even in miles (although, you normally wouldn’t use miles to measure such a small length).
2 m = 2 x 3.28 ft = 6.56 ft
2m = 2 x .3937 in = .7874 in
2m = 2 x .6214 mi = 1.2428 mi
