English Games for Second Grade

Language plays a vital role in children's development. Much learning takes place through the interaction of language and experience. Language helps the child to clarify and interpret experience, to acquire new concepts, and to add depth to concepts already grasped. Games help in the emotional and intellectual development of the child. The best way is to incorporate both of these goals is to have second graders reinforce their vocabulary lessons by playing entertaining learning games. We focus on building skills in reading, comprehension, writing, spelling, vocabulary and grammar. Through our language games and activities kids are exposed to an integrated language experience.

Our language games help kids in developing their ability to fluently communicate with others, in English. Kids can quiz playing with math vocabulary games, science vocabulary games, words games and other Second Grade Vocabulary Word Lists, Having Fun While Learning! Kids gradually develop a deeper conceptual understanding of the language as they approach the concepts from a range of pre-defined perspectives. Kids learn to use language appropriately and with increasing confidence. They learn to communicate their own thoughts, feelings and opinions.

Our games offer opportunities for children to develop creativity skills. Thus, practicing vocabulary concepts in a fun way ensures that children acquire new language skills all the while encourages them to read for pleasure and information with increasing independence. They continue to develop and use spelling patterns, use their phonetic skills to spell, especially more complex words. Challenging games inspire kids to use a variety of strategies to comprehend unfamiliar words such as: long vowels ending with silent e; high frequency words; fluency with modeled reading; vocabulary; reading a leveled text; story elements identifying main characters; and writing. Kids develop an understanding of the difference between written and spoken language and are able to participate appropriately in social interactions.
